LBMI profile
The Laboratory for Biomedical Informatics (LBMI) is a research laboratory that has coupled her original expertise in Quantitative Cytology and Medical Imagery with experience in Telematics to carry out Technological Research, Development and consultancy activities in Healthcare Telematics and Telemedicine.
Furthermore, LBMI is making plans for the introduction of these services wherever necessary and applicable across the globe.
The laboratory LBMI has developed Telepathology and TeleAmbulance configurations, which can be adapted to suit the purpose of this initiative.
The results of these technological innovations are regularly presented by LBMI at International conferences and published in International scientific and Medical journals.
More still, LBMI attends frequently Trade Missions and Brokerage meetings organised by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs (England, Israel, Indonesia etc).
While maintaining the original foundation office in Amersfoort, LBMI has since some few years moved house to one of the premises of the Delft Technical University in Delft.
LBMI is contemplating providing places for both National and International students to undergo practical studies in the following fields, Medical Imagery, Telemedicine, Sensor Technology (automatic vehicle alcohol control), 3rd Generation Mobile phone technology/ UMTS-based distributed system providing global access to hospital interdisciplinary medical data).
LBMI (Michael Adeyinka) was appointed one of the 5 International Telemedicine consultants to the World Health Organisation during the course of the ESA/WHO COPINE project.
Furthermore, LBMI has acquired adequate knowledge and experience proven in different projects for the European Commission including ELISE II (Electronic Library Image Service for Europe), with which LBMI won the 1st price for the best presentation during the International Congress of Medical Informatics Satu Mare, Romania, October 1997.
More still, LBMI is a foundation member of the work Group 10, featuring Health Informatics and Development.
This initiative was launched during the Medical Informatics in Europe conference (MIE 96), in Copenhagen 19-22 August, 1996 organised by The European Medical Informatics Association (EFMI).
The aims of WG 10 are to foster collaboration between Europe and other industrialised regions with developing countries on the use of information systems, informatics and telecommunications for the improvement of health standards and the quality of medical and health sciences practice.
LBMI is very interested in getting in touch with institutes and organisations with related or similar interest.
